Iiyaq

Kim and I went for another hike this weekend out at Termination point. It was pretty dark and snowy and we treked about one hour into this dense forrest and it kept reminding me of walking into my own subconscience. Early that day on "Alutiiq word of the week," they chose the word "Iiyaq", which means "devil" or "evil spirt." The elders had stories about these evil spirits that lived deep in the woods and wanted to eat your flesh. I like to call these "bears" and I am scared shitless of them. Anyways, it was a good hike and we found this cool lake with beaver dams and cut trees so we took some pictures.

WTF!

Had my first earthquake this morning at 5:15 this morning, I woke up and my bed was shaking... of course I thought it was Kim maybe flopping around or playing a joke on me, but she fell asleep on the couch last night... my next thought was an obvious thought for a catholic kid, I was in the beginning stages of being possessed and the aide of an exorcist would soon be needed... I woke Kim up and went out to the futon and lay next to her. I was so scared that I turned on the lights and shut the door to the bedroom while crossing myself. I wasn't until a little later while listening to NPR that I was somewhat relieved to find out the earth moved.
