storm 09

we had a pretty awesome blizzard last monday night. It dumped around 24inches of snow with-in about six hours. it started out as a regular snow storm but with in minutes we couldn't see 25ft out our window. Kim and I had all the supplies needed, we turned on the radio, opened a bottle of wine and got out the yahtzee. In the morning everything was shut down and people spent most of the day digging out, there were snow drifts over 6ft high in some places a lot of the boats in the harbor were on the verge of sinking because of topside weight, but none of the owners could get down to the harbor until the snow plows and back hoes cleared it out... it was a pretty wild event.

books read

a book about thinking different amongst the herd mentality

a book about living durring the times of nirvana.

willie hensley wrote this book. basically i wouldn't have a paycheck, the natives wouldnt have land and alaska would be a very different place if he never existed, but he does exist and kim and i watched him speak yesterday.

a rich intelligent white man comes to the door of a down and out 30 year old black man and wants to know if he can rent out his basement for a month and is willing to pay a staggering amount... once in the basement the man constructs a cell that he wants to be locked in until the his time is up.

a story about a man who is one day is accused by a woman of a horrible crime against her from back in his "hazy days" of drinking and drugs. soon the peices come together.

i always liked this story.
