Good morning guys,
Hope you all are well........my good friend and fellow "Road Warrior" James flew in to Nashville on Monday for a visit with Victoria and I. As I think most of you know, James has been undergoing treatment for Cancer and has recently completed a "regimen" which has now been concluded. His spirits remain high and, while he has lost considerable weight, he remains our "lovable" James. James purchased a cottage "on the shore" in Rockport, Tx last year (near Corpus Christi), which put him closer to his oldest daughter Erin and her family, including two of his four grandchildren (two more grandkids reside up in Alaska with James' son, Jaime) He hosted a "Family Reunion" in a chalet in Oregon recently and is now focused on spending as much time with family as possible. Victoria and I are thrilled that he has found the time for this visit with us and I've convinced him to stay through next week as well. I just returned from a reenactment in Hohenwald, Tn and Larry and I are committed to another in Selma, Alabama this coming weekend. This will still leave us the time remaining this week and the after I return from Selma to "reminisce" and enjoy our time with him. Victoria will take good care of him until my return home from the coming weekend away.
Yesterday friend and neighbor Fred Dahlman visited with James and I in the morning after our walkabout and in the evening James insisted on taking Fred and wife Belle and Victoria and I out to dinner at our local "Outback" restaurant. James has developed a friendship with Fred and Belle through his visits here to Nashville with us. (pictures attached)
We will allow James to relax and enjoy the "sunshine" while he visits with us, perhaps taking in the latest IMAX movie tomorrow at Opry Mills (a Sci-Fi with Tom Cruise). Next week we've tickets to the Nashville Symphony and James is looking forward to that. Upon his return James intends traveling to Venice Italy on a Cruise ship with his longtime friend and traveling companion, "Evy" from San Diego (some of you will remember Evy from parties at Rick's place when James and I took several of our road trips to L.A.) James calls himself a "scarecrow" now but, of course, we love him all the same. He sends his love and best wishes to you all as well.
Love, Dad, Granddad, etc.
